Farhad Rahbary, Principal
M. Arch, BES, OAA, MRAIC, LEED AP
I have been working for the past 28 years in the field of architecture on a wide range of projects and in a variety of positions. Below is a chronological summary of my experience.
As an architectural student at The University of Manitoba, my work experience consisted of various summer jobs including working for the Historic Resources Branch of the Government of Manitoba. This work led to the publication of a book entitled “Railway Stations of Manitoba” and a letter of commendation from the Minister of Cultural Affairs.
After graduation from the University, I moved to Toronto where I worked with a number of small, medium and large firms. During this period, I had the opportunity to be involved in all phases of projects and aspects of the practice including design, presentations, production, contract administration, project management and office administration. The types of projects I have been involved with ranged from residential to commercial, retail, industrial, institutional, recreational, business, renovations and planning.
During the 8 year period at Moriyama & Teshima, I worked in various capacities including those of a project architect and a contract administrator responsible for design development, working drawings and contract administration of award winning projects.
At HOK, I worked as a project leader on a number of large scale international projects including KAUST (King Abdullah University of Science and Technology), Doha Airport, and Deira Island Business Park as well as some domestic projects such as CIBC. The scale of Kaust project necessitated management of large teams, coordination of efforts with works of other offices and groups of consultants.
My managerial role at HOK extended beyond the management of the project team and included marketing, networking and the preparation of proposals, preparation of work plans, staffing, interviewing, and project related accounting. For a period of 10 years between 1991 and 2001, I taught architectural related courses at Humber College. This work was done in conjunction with various projects in this period.
In 2009, I founded Leads Architects Inc., a Canadian based architectural firm in Toronto Canada. As the managing principal, I have overseen a number of projects both in Canada and overseas. Currently Leads Architects Inc. is involved in a number of projects in Doha, Qatar.
